FDA to US Bakery: 'Love' Is Not An Ingredient
Forbes - You may think that you have found love. But you are wrong. That is, if you think love is in granola. As detailed in a letter to the owners of Nashoba Brook Bakery, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspected their facilities and found a number of violations, such as conditions that may lead to contaminated food, which you can read about in the letter. But aside from these, one misbranding violation listed is particularly interesting: "Your Nashoba Granola label lists ingredient "Love". Ingredients required to be declared on the label or labeling of food must be listed by their common or usual name [21 CFR 101.4(a)(1). "Love" is not a common or usual name of an ingredient, and is considered to be intervening material because it is not part of the common or usual name of the ingredient..... The bottom line: love doesn't exist...as an ingredient, that is. If you are looking for it in an ingredients label, you are looking for love in all the wrong places. Read.

Walmart Puts Its Eggs in a Time-Saving Basket: Grocery Pickup
Seeking an edge against Amazon, the retail giant is pushing a service that delivers your order to your car. Customers never have to step inside the store
New York Times
- A personal shopper is something you might expect at Bergdorf Goodman or a boutique on Madison Avenue. Not at the Walmart on Route 42 in Turnersville, N.J. But that's where you will find Joann Joseph and a team of Walmart workers each day, filling up shopping carts with boxes of Honeycomb cereal, Cheez-Its and salted peanuts. The customers select their groceries online, and then the shoppers pick the items off the store shelves and deliver them to people when they arrive in the parking lot. Customers never have to step inside the store..... Walmart, which is one of the largest food retailers in the United States, sees grocery pickup as a way to marry its e-commerce business with its gigantic network of stores -- a goal that has eluded many other retailers. The company started ramping up the service two years ago, and it is now available in about 1,000 of Walmart's 4,699 stores across the country. Read.

He said: "We are following the reaction with interest and we are happy to receive feedback. That's the purpose of the trial." Read.

What's new in campus dining? Kids cooking their own meals in the dining hall
Philly.com - In the dining halls at Bryn Mawr College, students whip up breakfast smoothies in a blender, grill paninis for lunch on a hot press, and stir-fry meat or vegetables at cooking stations, using a shelf of condiments and spices. Made-to-order choices and buffet-style food, like salad bars and pizza, are still available, but the cook-it-yourself opportunities added in recent years have proved popular. The same is true at Rowan University in Gloucester County, which has stir-fry stations and hot plates to cook omelets. "They're big with vegetarians and the students with allergies, since they can see everything that goes into their food"... Read.

Hindu Business Line - Yoghurt has been on my mind for many days now, like a pleasant humming tune that refuses to go away. I fell in love with the Honey Banana, with the vanilla bean flavour coming a close second. It is now my favourite light dessert. I have also noticed lots of people in airports eating it, and my neighbourhood kirana store says the product is moving very fast. Read.
